Users sometimes see a "LYDIA APP" debit on their bank statement, without having used Lydia (sometimes without even owning a Lydia account!).

If you're facing this issue, here are some explanations that can help you out:

1. You've made an online payment with your bank card 💳

Actually, you can be using a Lydia service without even knowing it. There are two main scenarios:

  • Either you've paid online: many businesses use a Lydia software (Lydia Pro) to accept card payments. Hence, Lydia debits your account on behalf on the business. This is why you can see "LYDIA APP" instead of the merchant's name on your bank statement.
  • You participated to a money pot: Lydia operates a money pot website called "cagnotte.me". Therefore, every time you participate to a money pot on this website, you'll see a "LYDIA APP" debit appear on your bank account.

2. A relative has used your card without you knowing it 💁‍♀️

Your children or significant other can use your card to make online purchases on your behalf. To be honest, it happens quite often. Users generally realise it a few days later after having asked their family.

👉 Next time, to avoid this situation, we recommend using a card that enables instant payment notifications on your phone, like the Lydia card. To know more, read this.
